U-21 CAPTAIN
Mickey Lynch captained the Derry U-21 side to win the Ulster Championship. In May 1976 he won the B+I Sports Personality of the Month Award.

BANAGHER GAC
At the AGM on 2nd January 1977 a decision was taken that St. Mary's Banagher GFC would from now on be known as St. Mary's Banagher GAC as Banagher would now be fielding a hurling team.Up until then the Banagher players had fielded with the  Dungiven hurlers.























TEAM  ACHIEVEMENTS

County Minor Football Champions 1976
After defeating every team on their way to the decider, surprise packets Doire Colmcille were to be their opponents in the Fanal at Ballinascreen. Captained by Dermot Mc Closkey,  Banagher scored 0-11 to 1-5 that day. Thirteen of the players would be  eligible as Minors the following season. Team and scorers were: Liam  Reilly, Johnny  Colgan, Pat Heaney, James Hassan, Mickey Heaney,Gerard Lynch, Raymond O'Kane, Mickey Mc Nickle, Dermott  Mc Closkey(0-3), Eugene Lynch, Leo Colgan(0-2), Charlie O'Kane(0-2), Fergal O'Neill(0-3), Kieran O'Neill(0-3) and Eugene O'Kane(0-1).

North Derry Schoolboy Champions 1976 
Banagher,  captained by Eugene Lynch,  secured the North Derry Schoolboys Championship.

Dr. Kerlin Cup Winners
Banagher won the Dr. Kerlin Cup which was North Derry's premier competition for the first time. Captained by Seamus Stevenson they defeated Dungiven 1-10 to 0-8.





TEAM NEWS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
There was little to report on the playing scene despite the previous year's successes of the footballers.
Banagher finished second in the newly formed All County League after failing to field against Dungiven in a top of the League decider.

MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONS
Success came quickly to the Minor Hurlers when in their first season they won the County Minor Hurling Championship.
